and speaking of time ...

the 'fall back' time of year is fantastic (except that kids bodies dictate their sleep and when the clocks get turned back ... they don't sleep in.)

on sunday morning we 'fell back' to standard time and it has me thinking about time - using time wisely, wasting time and how i'm spending time.

i have recently worked up some 'chore charts' for myself and schedules ...

i just joined the YMCA that is literally across the street. (there is free childcare when i am exercising - why has it taken me SO long to join?!) i plan to workout 3-5 days a week. i'm hoping that it will motivate me to get off my fat butt and make it not so fat ;)!

i am working to get my van parked in my garage - it is still full of boxes from the 'moving-not-moving' exercise we had this summer.

i'm trying to get my house back to a 'showable' state ...

it's the time of year when i have 35 projects started and nothing finished ... i would rather not be that way this year! today marks 50 days 'til Christmas and i'm shifting into high gear.

i would really like to be using my time more wisely.

what are your tricks for using your time most wisely?

Oh the YMCA. I love it there. They are amazing with my kids and I get at least a hour a day to myself. Sometimes I just go in the hot tub and relax.

Hello fellow Emily! Thanks for the comment on my blog. It's always fun to see who's around. Thanks for the tip too! I didn't even think about the languages thing. My hubbie speaks portuguese, so I think I'll delegate that part to him.

Sorry I can't help much with your time dilemma since I have the same problem too. It seems I never have enough time to get the needed things done, yet I always find time to blog... Why is that?!

Fun blog, and your kids are adorable. I love your spooky lunch too. I'll be back!

I used to work out at that YMCA and loved it! As far as using my time wisely, I kind of look at it like repentance. I feel guilty most nights and recommit myself with exstensive unrealistic lists and try again the next day! Sometimes I am quite impressed withmyself, sometimes I am not so much.

A timer is your friend. Seriously!! It's like with you kids. Work your butt off at something for "X" amount of time and see what you can get done. Sometimes I have to do this with projects I REALLY,really dislike. I can do almost anything if it has a 35 minute time limit. AND, I am always surprised by what I get accomplished!

I just recently noted my level of epic slackerness in a couple of recent posts on my blog, so I really don't have a leg to stand on. However, I love your dedication to getting better, to doing more, to making the most of every minute.

Em,
I have lost 25 lbs in the last 7 months (40 lbs total in the past year). Heres my tips:
Pick something you can "stand" doing for 20 minutes. For me, its walking on the tread mill. The tread mill I use at the gym counts how many vertical feet I walk (along with miles and all that stuff). My goal (because I like to hike) was to be able to walk 1000 vertical feet in under 20 minutes.

It took some time (and realizing that the higher I set the incline, the fast I will reach that 1000 feet), but eventually I could do it in under 20 minutes. Now I do 3000 feet in 50-60 minutes. This burns 1000 calories when I keep my heart rate up. It takes burning 3000 calories to loose one lb, so in theory, if I do this 3000 feet three times a week, I will loose a one lb a week.

As for all the other things on your list...GOOD LUCK...I am dealing with them too! UGH!

You already know all my tips so I guess I don't count. The only thing I do consistently is write lists. It works for me.
